The WEG company well known for electric motors and Voltran, provider of
high quality electrical utility transformers have recently come together to
form a joint venture providing a wider, more versatile line of GSU and Sub Station Transformers ranging
from 5 MVA to 300 MVA with voltages up to 230kV.
WEG was formed in 1961 and has since become the largest Latin American
electric motors manufacturer and is present in over 60 countries on five
continents with US offices located in
Atlanta, GA. Dedicated initially to production of electric motors,
the company started expanding its activities in the 80's with the
production of generators, electrical components, industrial automation
products, power and distribution transformers, liquid and powder paints and
electro-insulating varnishes.
Voltran Transformers was formed in 1980 providing power & medium
power transformers, distribution transformers, cast coil transformers, dry
type & pad mounted transformers form 5 MVA to 50 MVA with voltages up
to 138kV (230kV in 2007) and is ISO 9001 quality system certified by
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. US offices are located in San Antonio,
Texas.
